RPA Women’s month leadership series: Zulfa Solomon

At RPA, we celebrate diversity, collaboration and believe that because of our unique contributions, we make a strong and powerful team.  Focussing on Women’s month, August 2023, we asked our management team a few questions about leadership, the role of women in management positions and advice for the younger generation of leaders.

We talk to Zulfa Solomon, Portfolio Executive.

In your opinion, what are the unique strengths and qualities that women bring to leadership roles?
I firmly believe that women possess a formidable reservoir of power, manifested in their adeptness at problem-solving, multitasking, and gracefully navigating challenges. As females, we infuse innovation, novel perspectives, and an unwavering blend of strength and focus, enriching every endeavor we undertake.

You have a beautiful daughter that got married recently. What advice do you have for other mothers who are striving to raise confident, ambitious, and compassionate daughters?
I believe it’s vital to recognise that there’s no universal guidebook for parenting. The foundation lies in having confidence in your parental capabilities and relying on your instincts as you nurture your children. The essence of imparting wisdom through love and respect, coupled with empowering them to pursue their aspirations, holds undeniable significance.

How do you approach failure and setbacks, and what role do they play in shaping your leadership style?
I welcome failure as a stepping-stone for progressive change. It’s just part of the journey toward success, and it’s how we gain valuable insights and wisdom. Like they say, you can’t truly appreciate the beauty of flowers without a little rain.

Can you share your thoughts on the importance of self-care and well-being for women in leadership positions?
Personally, self-care holds a special place in my life because it empowers me to rejuvenate and present the best version of myself. It’s like refuelling my inner energy, which in turn fuels my drive to conquer daily tasks and achieve my work goals. Putting your well-being first isn’t just about staying physically healthy – it’s a cornerstone for maintaining your mental and emotional equilibrium as well.
